my gut says that your having experienced an outpouring of tears is/was a
good thing. emotional flow is what might be your most effective guide.
whatever sorrows and heartbreak you'd tapped into may need to be
allowed to flow freely... the more enjoyable feelings will be experienced
later, after those 'receptors' have been permitted to release those
uncomfortable things which have been "stuffed" onto them.
so, i would look to start there. connect to your own emotional
sensitivities, and bring them into joy, through acknowledging that
joy is your ultimate goal.
