As with most things, yes and no. As conscious beings we entered this lifetime from the standpoint of timeless knowing and being. Your definition of your loved ones is based on the limited context of this particular lifetime. Where a grand parent to appear to you as one of your children from a previous lifetime would you immediately recognize the significance? If you're in need of such reassurance when you pass from this lifetime then you will likely encounter as your needs suggest. But such is a flash in the pan (though perhaps a very nice flash in the pan :) as may be encountered, by comparison, to your more timeless self.
So yes, you may see a version of your loved ones,
and no, that will not really be them,
as you won't really be you as you tend to currently define yourself,
once you reawaken to who you were before entering this lifetime of specific experiences. :)
