And yes, they are tuned into responsiveness patterns to the "here" and now. Where else would they be responsively tuned to? They can be influenced by our "thoughts" about the past and the present, but the biological responsiveness will be in the real-time mode, for the "here" and now is the only place that you'll ever be interactively aware of.
