'Side' is a key word. Most people take sides mentally and emotionally. It's very rare to find someone who doesn't on a big issue that people tend to take personally. We live in a very divided society in many ways.
The main reason is that humans are not actually that reasonable or logical,as studies have found. We are very delusional, even the smart people. We take sides and filter everything through our 'unintelligent' brains. lol :-)
