Yes some souls hang around earth after passing out of their bodies for various reasons, however, you have to take into account the difference in consciousness between an embodied soul and a soul free of the body.
Things humans take pleasure in doing, such as watching movies, are pleasurable because it's a way to temporarily turn off thought and go into a trance like form of consciousness. When you are absorbed into a movie, the ego and thought is basically put to sleep. Since the ego can be a source of self torture, this can be very pleasurable. Also, one can put the attention on the story or actors after watching the film and this too takes the ego and thought away from various forms of self torture.
A soul free from the body and it's ego would have no need or desire to escape into a movie. In fact, if the reason the soul is hanging around earth is due to being overly attached to it and to negative emotions, the soul basically has it's hands full. It is dealing with things much more overwhelming than a desire to watch a film. Such a soul is between the astral and physical dimensions and would not have the focus or ability to watch a movie even if it could focus in on a desire to do so.
