What first planted the seed was my mother's stories of seeing my grandmother speak to deceased relatives just before she herself died and also being with her when she smelt my father's army uniform in the house. The convincer was sensing my mum beside my bed after getting the news of her death, hearing her laughing at my daughter and later on, seeing the effect my forgiveness had on my parents' spirits.
