Interesting perspective, I hadn't thought of it like that - I was much more sympathetic towards the position of Hoffman's character, I thought he was just looking out for a vulnerable kid but ended up getting on the wrong side of a person (Streep) who was resistant to any change to the existing power structure.
Fantastic performance from Streep either way, though.

You know the whole point of the story was that he was sexually abusing boys, right?
Oh sure, he played the whole card about being new and more liberal...but all the while it was a cover for what he was doing. Streep's character was just able to see right through it to what he really was.
