I have used the pendulum but not my favorite as such. Unless someone needs me to display a pendulum anyways, for an answer. I still prefer cards.
Have you tried stichomancy ? The context of what you read randomly can give you a yes/ no reply.
Just mentally say that you want the truth and nothing but the truth itself, and that should be enough with the pendulum.
