1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.

2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.

What we need to first understand is that there is the image of the beast which is the creation of the Dragon mentioned in Revelations 12. There's also the image of God which is the creator of the Heavens and the Earth. When one thing is said lets say by God the Dragon/Beast and its image will also have its own meaning and will go out to fulfil that meaning by even taking on the image of God and invading many countries.
Verse 1 seems straight forward that seven human messengers get the go ahead to speak their message to the Earth. But lets see another verse with a messenger or two and the Earth. Revelations 14:14-16 and Revelations 14:17-20. In verse 19 is the word "Gather" which is the people that are Gathered from the four corners of the Earth.
Verse 2 seemingly has two types of people, those that have the mark and those that worship that image. Btw I've read on a forum somewhere that that mark and specifically that number has something to do with Solomon according to the bible.
