I have a different perspective.

When you have someone that has never been able to stop his very active thoughts...
struggling with stress, deadlines, bad relationships, financial problems,
no health insurance, barking dogs, no sleep, divorces, kids in trouble...
Then, by golly...Do whatever you can ...listen to subliminal messages, peaceful music or
someone aiding you in some visualizations...maybe telling you
to breathe in some rhythm...or feel your toes relaxing.

Do anything you can to find a stress-free state of mind.
Hahaha, even chant something in a foreign language, who cares.
Sure, it is not officially meditation...that can come later.
