Tao Te Ching, Chapter One

Greetings..

For those interested, i propose a chapter by chapter discussion of the Tao Te Ching.. i will open with the Gia Feng & Jane English translation of Chapter One:

The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.
The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the beginning of heaven and Earth.
The named is the mother of the ten thousand things.
Ever desireless, one can see the mystery.
Ever desiring, one sees the manifestations.
These two spring from the same source but differ in name; this appears as darkness.
Darkness within darkness.
The gate to all mystery.

For 29 translations, cross-reeferenced, please see the following link: http://www.wayist.org/ttc%20compared/index.htm
The St. Xenophon Library is quite a remarkable resporce.. Anyway, the link provides much in the way of additional perspectives, and your own perspectives are equally 'Tao'..

Be well..
