Guessing from my knowledge of the Bible and any intuition I may possess-
It's a spiritual priesthood, not an earthly one.
One who is initiated into such an order was done on the Other Side before they incarnated.
Great exorcists, healers, powerful clairvoyants, etc. Some psychics and mediums may be a part of this who are on Earth.
Jesus was member of this priesthood. He had a higher command over the ordinary priesthood in the Temple. They thought he was nuts though since they couldn't understand the Spirit World even though at one time (2nd Temple Judaism) had a strong belief and awareness of that Realm.
