the method seems to be a form of "faith healing", but without the aspect of
divine intervention involved.
i can't think of a specific appropriate label for the method (although i might recognize a term if i heard it (again)).
Spiritual Masters are often speaking to the idea of physicality being fundamentally illusory. see

images, as are our perceptions, can only reflect truth to us (with distortions unfortunately).
