Well, I'm not very familiar with sleep studies or their financial viability or whether they are covered by insurance. Have you had a sleep study done? Please, do share your experience with sleep studies.

The impression I get of sleep studies is they cover physical problems with insomnia and not necessarily neurological or psychological problems. And they are meant to diagnose the physical problems for later treatment.

What is the concern with medication? Not over the counter medication, but real clinical, psychiatric medication? I'm sure a trained Psychiatrist, which is a medical doctor specialist, can refer to sleep study if he believes it is the direction to go.

Again, I've been around for over year people who refused to get psychiatric treatment for their insomnia. At least ten people I knew were like this. They would come to meetings every week having failed the alternative medicine path but refused to take the psychiatric medication. I never understood that. I always saw it as a matter of pride, "Unless I fix this myself I don't want to fix it at all types," that path never made sense to me; tended to be rather controlling as well. I guess we all have to learn in our own way.
