The brain is a vast computer. 100 billion neurons each with between 10 and 30,000 connections to the others. That's quite some communication network. Emotions can be regarded as output data directed down the sympathetic and vagus nerves mostly. The big difference is that it has fear verification at the input: approach/withdraw because, one better than a computer - wants to preserve its safety but it's still based on computation.
