I honestly don't think it will ever become mainstream because it's a difficult path to walk. It can take years to train to use spirit flight to journey to the Otherworld and travel in the Otherworld to talk to the spirits. The "hedge" in Hedgewitch represents the boundary that exists between this world and the Otherworld. It is not just about herbal knowledge (which IS an important part of Hedgewitchery, though) and healing.
