We all have some psychic abilities. Those experiences with your ex are most likely because of some thing energetically going on in his life. It would help if you could contact him just to see how he is doing.
That second experience sounds a lot like a past life recollection to me. It could also be some form of precognition. Hard to say which or if it is some thing else.
