Thank you for posting this Berry! Lots of things we can use or eat are toxic for animals. Cats are even more sensitive than dogs. But when you think that a dog's sense of smell is -what? 100 times (?) more powerful than ours, it's easy to see why that sweet scent of lavender might be just overwhelming for them and make it hard for them to breathe. Same goes for incense sticks.

For headaches, a tea made with lavender flowers is supposed to be helpful, so long as there isn't any serious medical reason for the headaches in the first place. The remedy doesn't have to be essential oils in the air. There are essential oils in the flowers, and they are drawn out by the boiling water. Eucalyptus leaves can also be used in a tea.
