The other issue is negative energy. It attaches to the neck via the 1st vertebra and makes stiffness which can spread.
If that applies to you, use rubbing alcohol. Soaking basil in it first makes it work better. Just wipe it on the back of your neck. If you feel an instant relief, keep using it.
