of the views expressed thus far, i'm in agreement with Seawolf and
dream jo, and only partially agreeing with most of the other thoughts.

i tend towards considering Spirit and Will as distinct aspects of divinity, with
Spirit acting in support of Will [Spirit serves Will, lovingly.] i also tend
towards understanding thoughts to be the language of Spirit, and emotions
to be the language of Will... which means that for me to be healthy and whole,
my thoughts are geared towards 'satisfying' my emotions, and not in seeking
to dominate over them. i believe that everyone has an innate desire to be
happy, and i disbelieve that some mentally constructed plan is the proper
means to achieving that sought for happiness.
i don't believe that emotions tend towards "flattening out"... not 'naturally'.
my sense is that elation, and bliss are the 'endpoint' for emotions; exaltation
is where healthy emotional progression leads a being, in my estimation.
