it's not really banter that it looks like
it's people speaking from their mind set and beliefs
the valentinians saw these differences in their day and put a cosmological twist on it, that all these different sects or whatever you call them, are emanations of the Father, that is, Jesus
So Jehova's Witnesses are one emanation, biblical Christianity another, Catholic another, Gnostic another etc making up the fullness in total
They were hoping the emanations would cease their conflicts and settle into a harmonious order
So even if you are from one emanation you have to bear with the others even if you disagree with them, since they had the same source
This is a visionary viewpoint really, and humbling if you realise you are from one of those emanations yourself. In the end one of them rose up and crushed all the others with Constantine, but itself was a mixture of all of them...
