I am willing to agree to this Little Creek77, that I agree the trailing is due to possible shutter speed (because of no flash used) as well as shaky camera effect. So in short I will agree with you on that part. I do not claim to be a professional photographer and I also did not have time to set up my camera tripod because I honestly raced to grab the camera in hopes it would still be there when I returned. But I only agree on account of the trailing lights in the photo and any blurring of it. I know what we saw and stand by it's strange triangular shape. I even managed to research other reports over the years in our area and actually found that all of these reports were roughly within a 30-40 minute drive from our home. I've posted a few of them below because all those reports describe similarities to what we saw as well and this is only a few there were many, many more that I found within our area. Same triangular shape.
