The sound OM (AUM) does indeed have a surreal vibration for those who, like yourself, have experienced it. YES !

The rishis of India were masters of sound. It has been proven repeatedly that fine sand will assume predictable patterns based on a repetitive sound vibration (of any kind). Similarly, with chanting of Sanskrit, it is said that the "mind stuff" (for lack of a better word) will assume a predictable pattern and, without thinking, one intuitively knows what was being communicated by the rishi who proposed the specific chant(s). By chanting OM intensely, its intended meaning is revealed.

I realized this many years ago and confirmed this with my spiritual mentor.
