it is the whole money thing. Everyone eventually tends toward wanting their 'in' with other people... and the desire for this goes against pretty much every true path...
i mean look jesus said 'turn the other cheek' and jesus died because he loved us. Those types of things simply don't seem compatible with the ways we know to get an 'in' with others.
