Fact of the matter is no one really knows what the heck matter/energy really is. We can observe behaviors and relationships but we're not at the bottom of it all. Not even close.

If I was going to make any kind of statement it would be something like this. Consciousness = Unified Field. We don't know what it is but we do believe our existence, our reality, somehow arises from it and will eventually subside back into it. Beyond that who can really say? That would require omniscience.
