I don't really think there's a "best" spread - it's whatever works for you. Some people like the 8+ cards for detail, some people like the smaller 2-3 card spreads for clarity. It's like asking what the "best" food is - it's really subjective and depends on how you read.
My go-to spread is usually Situation/Need to know/Advice, although I can switch this up and add other positions etc.
