Affirmations and/or letting go

Hello,

Looking for some advise on affirmations and why we would use them in manifesting. Basically I read that affirmations combined with emotions are powerful for manifesting what you want in your life but on the flip side I also read that once we decide what we want to manifest we should then just let it go and not spend any great deal of time thinking about it (attachment). So, what's the right and wrong way (if there is such a thing).

Also, while on the subject of affirmations. How do you get real feeling and emotion into a repeated affirmation?

Andrew

I think its all about imagining the reality you prefer to the fullest you can including the feelings and then let it go completely. I'm still learning LOA so I'm not a pro, but I have consciously created many things now and one of the hardest things is letting the order go. You can't stand in a fast food line holding the idea of the meal you want, you have to say it and then let the restaurant cook the food for you.

You get the emotion into the repitition of affirmations by really seeing in your mind that vision, not just repeating empty words. I've done affirmations emotionless before and I did not get what I was after.

Thanks for the reply Stevo.

So are you saying that affirmations should not be used/repeated daily - i.e just let it go and don't think on it? I know (well, I have read) that with LOA letting go is akin to not being obsessed with the outcome which kind of makes sense, but, isn't the act of performing regular affirmations associated with what you want (LOA) 'not' letting go?

Also - on the same theme visualisation, if we are advised to repeat this regularly then again is that not the opposite of letting go?

Thanks - (a very confused:confused2: ) Andrew

A good mixture of positivity and acceptance of 'what will be will be'.

I see affirmations as requests but if there are deep rooted beliefs to the contrary it will just not work. Once you make a request and if you start thinking about it too much then doubt starts to creep in, it's like the analogy I read in one of the comments, you ask for a hamburger and you let the cook get it ready for you but if you start making changes, adding this getting ready of that then in the end you get something completely different or nothing at all.

What works best for me I don't ask for something specific, just give me joy, inner peace everything else will fall in place later; like asking the cook give me the best you got

Ok I will give an example instead of an answer...

Years ago I was learning about LOA and so me and my partner back then we read about it so much we decided to create something small and believeable... so we visualized chalk, chalk, chalk, chalk, chalk... chalk.

The next morning our apple picking job boss says "put out your hand" and he places a piece of chalk in our hands!

Chalk wouldn't change my life so it was a believeable creation.

Thank you all for the replies.

Stevo, I am intrigued - why did your boss give you the chalk??

@ScarlettHayden - does that not contradict slightly with the 'we are creators' principle?

@lifer76 - I like the analogy. I guess I have been reading too much contradictory information. I do put as much effort as possible into visualising (still have problems with the feeling part though) and affirmations but I guess by constantly repeating the affirmations I am creating some form of 'when' or expectation which is possible a bad thing?

I recently read 'The Adventures of I' which was hard going but did explain a lot in (often confusing) detail. It explained something called the 'blue feather experiment' which I read but didn't pay too much attention to. 2 days later I found a blueish feather in a place where I would have never thought it would be, I didn't go looking for a feather and that part of the book never even crossed my mind again after ready it. Not sure why I am telling you this other than perhaps letting go is the correct way?

Personally I think there is much confusion about when to use affirmations. It seems that they can be used to good effect for personal development but now they have crossed over into manifestation too? This is what I am finding at least from my reading - it all seems a bit of a mish mash.

Thanks again - Andrew

No. You're the creator, not your ego.

When we manifest from a place of attachment we will be disappointed when we do not receive the expected outcome. Your Self decides what will be manifested or not.

Attachment can also prevent as much as instigate manifestation. It's a hit or miss.

@ScarlettHayden - thanks

So, we need to take a step back and really look whether affirmations/manifestations are something that the ego wants or the creator within? Any examples?
