Preparing for death alone

I am in a strange situation. I have literally no family, no church, no emergency contact, no one that can be notified should something tragic happen to me. As things are right now, the state would have to claim me as unidentified and put my body somewhere.

Is there a way I can fix this? I don't want to burden any stranger with funeral planning, burial, etc. Do funeral homes have plans for people who have literally no one? I will call and begin to do research. Sometimes I feel like it doesn't matter at all what happens after I die. Other times (like right now), I feel like I have to quickly take matters into my own hands because anything could happen.

Ideas?

There are many cemetary plots that will reserve your plots. You can pick them out and everything. This can get expensive however. The cheapest route is a cremation, but you can also reserve a spot in a mausoleum for cheaper then a plot. The places will work out the transportation, and you can settle your bill prior.

Asside from answering your questions :), I want to add your death will ALWAYS be important. If our "diety" has unconditional love for all, every one of us must be counted for the whole. We will all be known in death.

I do urge you to please do your research though.

1) If you are in the UK, it is possible to get your solicitor to arrange the funeral and see to everything. Though they would charge for it...Quite a lot of work involved.
They would take their costs from your estate.
2) When your 'time' comes one (or more) of your loved ones (who have passed over) will come for you and help you cross over to the other side.
So you won't die alone in that sense.

All this talk of religion, but it's how you live your life that is the all-important thing.
If you set out each day to do all the goodness and kindness that you can, and to do no harm to man or beast, then you are walking the highest path.
And when your time is up, if you can leave the earth a better place than you found it, then yours will have been a life well lived.
Well said Knight :)

I am going with the idea that I don't really care what happens to my body after it quits living. I did however sign up to be an organ donor in case of some accident where some part of my body may be used to help someone sick or needing it somehow. That is free to sign up for. The important part of dying to me is just to harbor no hatred or anger or resentment at the time. I also think that that is the best way to live as well as to die. :D

Thanks guys.

Ultimately I'm not afraid of death, and I know I won't be around to be concerned with all this when I die.
I have relatives, but they are not dependable in the slightest. So I have moments like these when I feel very much alone because I have no family to tell "I want x y z to happen when I die." It seems that most people take it for granted that they will have family to lean on.
