The Power of the Near-Death Experience, Part 1 with Elizabeth Krohn

There are a ton of NDE stories out there but this is my favorite and is as amazing a story as Eben Alexanders! Elizabeth Krohns was interviewed on New Thinking Allowed by Jeffrey Mishlove and in Pt 2 Jeffrey Kripal who is a professor of theology and psychology one of those studies at Rice University in Texas gives his take on the validity of her story since he spent time talking with Miss Krohn he also worked with whitley strieber author of the book communion and WOLFEN THIS IS INTERVIEW # 1

lol no NDEs don't "empower" people or it's something else.
It should make people wiser.

And for those who prefer reading to watching Youtube videos, Elizabeth Krohn has written about her experiences in Changed in a Flash: One Woman's Near-Death Experience and Why a Scholar Thinks It Empowers Us All.

From the Amazon blurb: the first half of this book is the story of Krohn’s journey, and the second is an interpretation and analysis by respected professor of religion Jeffrey J. Kripal.

I have not yet got round to buying this, mainly because I am less interested in the second half. I do not feel that I need someone else to interpret and analyse such experiences for me. Having said that, Jeffrey Kripal may have lots of interesting things to say, and no doubt I will get this book sooner or later.

Peace

Oh, I beg to differ. It can induce the required spark needed to develop spiritual awakening. Of course, there are many ways to acquire such spark, and NDEs is one of them... A rather more direct, no ** way, but nonetheless a way...and sometimes such a way is needed for the most stubborn of people. The soul sometimes needs to force one to acquire this spark to awaken them.

Well, I got the book and I am halfway through the first part where Elizabeth Krohn tells her story.

The actual description of her NDE is quite brief. Going to her synagogue she was struck by lightning in the car park, left her body and observed what was happening, and was then taken to a beautiful garden. She spent what seemed to be two weeks there with her deceased grandfather and she was told many things. Then she was given a choice - she could go further and her body would die or she could return to her body. She was told that if she returned to her body then certain things would happen in her future. For various reasons she decided to return to her body, and she regained physical consciousness just a couple of minutes after being struck by lightning. A doctor was tending to her (the synagogue happened to have a lot of doctors present), and she began the slow process of recovery.

Since then the book has been about her subsequent psychic experiences and how her attitudes were changed as a result of this event. Which is interesting but overall how much does her NDE add to our understanding of the afterlife? I certainly would not compare this with the experiences of Eben Alexander or Anita Moorjani. But I am only part way through her story.

Peace

No her story is not as colorful as Eben Alexanders but she comes across as very real, down to earth and pretty funny as she describes lying in bed with her husband when the phone rings and she starts having a conversation with whoever is on the line at the end of the call her husband asked her who was she talking to, and when she tells him who it was i had to laugh it was pretty funny. i could see the expression on his face! that scene was right out of a Tobe Hooper flick.

Elizabeth Krohn didn’t do much for me to be honest.

Everything she said you could have found on the net.

Yeah I know, I’m big skeptic.

Eban Alexander on the other hand, I feel the opposite. I have read all his books and feel enormous respect for him and his experiences.

But that’s just me.

i dont think there was much of an internet when she had her experience, but i have to look at the time frame again ,but that does not matter any way, you are not going to find the smoking gun in any of these stories whether or not its a Disney classic full of special effects or a 1947 The Ghost and Mrs.Muir! but for sure there are forces at work that defies reason i know that much.

Yes, Elizabeth Krohn had her experience in 1988, pre-internet, when discussion of NDEs was far less common.

And as you mention earlier, that phone-call in bed was rather bizarre, but not the first time I have come across such a story.

I certainly do not doubt her experience. As for how much it adds to our understanding, to be fair a near death experience can only give us a glimpse into the possibilities awaiting us. Because a near death experience is not a complete death experience. The person experiencing it can only go so far before they have to come back.

Peace
