Strange message when enterig Chat.
 

Today I keep getting this strange message when I try an enter chat, the message is one line at the top of a blank page.

" It seems that you are running a small screen device. Click Continue to load a skin specially designed to fit your moblie browser."

Which is a bit strange as I dont have a cell phone I can even use on the internet and I'm as always using my Lap top. I hit continue and get a tiny box come up for chat and I mean tiny I also get a white page background not the normal blue. Any Idea whats happening????

PS: Please ignore the missing N in my title I can't edit it to change the typo.

I just went in to check how it's working for me. I am on a laptop too. It works OK for me. You didn't accidentally click on someone's name on the right did you? Because if so a smaller "whisper box" would come up for you to talk to that person.

This is what I get message wise except its smaller than the whisper box. I've
not clicked on anything else other than the button to enter the chat room , not even by accident and I've been using chat for years so I know what the whisper box is like, this is in the top left hand part of the page. I really dont know what's caused this. Ive rebooted my lap top, closed down Sf and then reopened it etc even refreshed the page several times none of which has worked. I've also not been into or changed any setting either in SF or on my laptop.

All I get is that 1st message and then I get this message above and if I can get into the chat room at all its a white back ground and small text as you would see if you were using a cell phone.

This morning chat worked fine for me it was the normal blue back ground chat page and everything else and I've changed nothing on my lap top since or had any updates, So I'm at a total loss.

I'm at a loss too Makoiyi. Not being much of a Techie myself I am unsure why that weird thing is happening. I will certainly ask admin for you to see if there are any ideas.

Thanks very much Tobi, it really is puzzleing but very hard for me to use chat now as its so small and the white background is hard to use with that size and the colored text people use. I can't get it to open up as it normally should with the blue background and the correct size. I was hoping that after the last crash when the site went down yesterday it would return to normal but unfortunatly it didn't.

I haven't yet discovered what might be the cause of this, Makoiyi. It's a peculiar error and so far no-one is sure what caused it.

Thanks for keeping on trying to figure it out. It still happenig and there seems no way for me to do anything to change it back. I've tried all that I can think of.

Makoiyi, those messages seem typical for a lot of members, myself included. You just have to keep trying to get in sometimes. I know it's a nuisance at times, however, happy to read changes are coming soon. Hang in there! :smile:
