Book recommendations please

Hiya all.

Wondering if anybody could suggest a good book on Buddhism that is fairly easy going to read!!! I am not the most academic type of person so I'm looking for something thorough, just written in layman terms if that makes sense.

Thank you :)

Yes I'm not to keen on the name :D
Haven't read it myself but I know people who have and they say it's a good book.
Do you have a Kindle ? If you have you can get a sample from amazon and see for yourself if it's suitable.

Look for free pdf's, I do remember seeing a few ' Buddhism for beginner's 'Have a good look around because a lot of Buddhist books are given free.

The Self Perfected State by Norbu is a really good one.

Rainbow Panting is free and another good one.

Those two are really good at explaining things and will provide a nice understanding of the concepts and beliefs.

While not a book the berzine archives is a wealth of knowledge.

This reads like a book. Very, very informative and detailed with easy to understand writing style as well as each piece builds upon the next.

Old Path White Clouds is the Buddha's biography by Master Thich Nhat Hahn. (I hope I spelled that name right!) Enchantingly told - Heard about it online, got it at my local library, had to have my own so ordered from amazon.com. It's my Buddha Bible! It gives all the basics, too and makes it a lot easier to understand for a beginner like me, told in a non-repetitive narrative. Awesome book.
