POWER ANIMALS
 

Totemism is a system of belief in which each human is thought to have a spiritual connection or a kinship with another physical being, such as an animal or plant, often called a "spirit-being" or "totem." The totem is thought to interact with an individual and to serve as a messenger for spirit.

In native American culture they see the universe as one complete circle, a circle in which nothing is separate but it is all just one.

Nowadays we call the totems, power animals. The eagle, hawk and the wolf are probably the best known of these power animals.

Once you begin to notice the animals in your life and believe that they do indeed carry messages from spirit it brings you into a whole other world of beauty and mystery.

It all comes from a time when people only took what they needed to survive and blessed and thanked the animals for providing food.

Why should humans have animal totems? Why connect some person with an animal spirit? Human spirit is an animal spirit by itself, I think.

Why not?

It's not obligatory............it is a belief system like everything else. :)

spirit works with what ever means possible....animals, humans, nature etc etc

Thanks! I do believe in this somewhat. In other sites my spirit animal always comes up as the swan, not only that but I had a dream while back ago and it was one of does meaningful dreams. Well in the dream I was in a different world and one of my abilities was that I could transform into a swan anytime I wanted to. I thought that was a pretty interesting dream and then I looked up online and that's when it did showed me that my spirit animal is the swan. :wink:

To my interpretation in my dream it didn't show me that it was a spirit guide. It showed me that it was the type of animal within me.
