hiding a painting

I dreamed I hid a painting under my mattress and everyone was looking for it (it was valuable). So for most of the dream I was alternating between being stoic to not give it away and misdirecting people, for example I misdirected that it might be in the attic. I guess there was some thought in my mind during the dream that my hiding place wasn't all that great but I stuck with it... At some point someone lay on the bed and I was cringing inside that they might find me out but they didn't.

But someone found me out eventually anyway and took the painting out and set it against the wall; when I came back in the room the bed had been moved away from the wall and the painting was there along with some other valuable artsy stuff. I thought 'this is cool, noone will ever notice the painting against the wall!' But after that the dream devolved into something where aliens were killing people by shooting gooey stuff but I was avoiding them, and after that it got very bizarre, don't really know how to talk about it.

there was a SIMS game in which if you were to hang a clown painting on the
wall it would serve to summon clowns to attack your house and cause mayhem.
your dream seems to have devolved into a similar situation... the act of
displaying that valuable painting had had the effect of summoning chaos
into the world.
a picture can act as a portal -- when you look at it, your mind can transport
you someplace else. that's the feeling i got from your hidden painting.
you'd discovered the mechanism to transport people into a desired place,
but weren't comfortable with sharing the information. hiding it under the
mattress seems like you'd wanted to "sleep on it" before deciding if and
how you'd wanted to make the revelation.
when your attention was elsewhere, it seems 'the hand of God' took the
initiative to display the painting prominently... and this pleases you!

with the world devolving into chaos, the exit point shown in that painting
has great value indeed. do you have a picture in your mind of how
people can be free of the chaos? will you hide that idea, or display it?

What you say sort of makes sense in the context of my own thoughts... but...

well you say displaying the painting may be like like the sims game where things devolve into chaos, then later you say the exit point shown in the painting has value in avoiding the chaos... I'm sort of confused how those two concepts go together in your mind? They seem like opposite meanings for the painting? Can you clarify?

it may be like opening a doorway that leads to a nice place,
but the process of opening the door means that the current
location becomes less tolerable.
in your dream some unseen actor had hung the painting,
so the option to continue with the status quo wasn't
available any more.

in mythology, Gaia came forth from out of chaos.
for me, the dream spoke to a new beginning for her.

What was it a painting of?

Was your bed made or unmade when you hid the painting?

When you say "everyone was looking for it" who is "everyone"? Who was there with you?

Why was the painting valuable?

Well i never really saw the painting so I don't know what it was. I gathered what it was wasn't important... my bed was made... everyone, I'm not sure, I guess people in general. There was noone much in the dream aside from the person who hung the painting... I just thought of people looking for it... i didn't think about why it was valuable, I just knew it was.

oh that makes total sense now! Thank you!

I do have a pretty painting that might be considered a kind of doorway and I do think it would cause a lot of chaos if anyone looked at it. Between not wanting that and the fact that any time I've tried to show it noone wants to look anyway it is just too hard to do anything other than just hoard it any more lol! Maybe the dream is saying others aren't going to let me get away with that indefinitely
