Robins
There have 3 robins around our garden/house today. They have been sitting in one of the trees outside. All 3 have very red chests and are looking gorgeous against the snow. They are too small to photograph from inside and i can't get out the back to take a picture.
Any thoughts on the robin? cesx |
Just my feeling but here goes. I think Robins come along to say hi to us, they seem to take an interest in people almost as if just letting them know they are not alone. I have a little red robin that comes to visit me every morning when i'm up with my horses, i think he wants me to feed him too!!! so i must take some food tomorrow :D
They always bring a smeile to my face and i get a sense of being watched it's lovely to experience, they seem very wise. Animal symbolism of the Red Robin - A quick-list:
The red robin reminds us it's time to shake the sleepiness out of our head (both figuratively and literally), get alert, get moving, and start enjoying life! Spring has sprung, tides have turned, and no matter how crummy or grey our world has been it is time for new beginnings! Enjoy the bright road ahead because it's only going to get brighter! Not only is the robin a promise of new beginnings with the new cycle of spring in our midst, it carries symbolic meanings of cheer, joviality and light-heartedness. We can see this in the spring of the robin's step. The song also hails the message: "Live, love, laugh and be happy" and that is precisely what the symbolic meaning of the red robin tells us too. |
hi ces,
I hope you enjoyed winter, robins usually announce the arrival of spring ! :D Dreamie xx |
Thanks for your thoughts all. Will see what else I can find. I do like robins they do seem to be very friendly little souls. :D

Hiya ces
If you are in the UK, robins tend to be friendlier. I've had one right outside the patio doors this week grubbing for food. As you might know, the UK is pretty much covered in snow, and seeing a red-breasted robin is so Christmassy! I remember reading somewhere that robins can be friendly, even following you around the garden as you do the gardening - landing on your spade and so on. They're certainly chubby at this time of year - and stay with us all winter...bless their little red hearts! |
I am in the UK and have the snow too. :( - these robins were stunning against the white backdrop. :D

Robins used to be reliable harbingers of Spring where I am here in southern Ontario, Canada. But in the last two-three years, I've been surprised to see a few wintering over. Most still seem to migrate for winter but the mere fact that a few are staying is one more indication that global warming is happening.

maybe a few are just curious, and want to experience winter ?
