Can hypnosis cure anxiety/depression/obsessive thoughts?
 

Hi everyone.

Just a quick one really - as mentioned in the thread title, is hypnosis set about to cure these kind of things?

If so, can anyone recommend any hypnotists that are available for download?

I believe that this is possible with the right aspect of things.

I think it can manipulate you into thinking otherwise, I am not sure, it's like that "thumbsucker" film where the kid has grown into his late teenage years and still thumbsucks, his hypnotist makes him think that his thumb tastes really bad so he stopped it. I don't know if it actually works that way.

Depends who the hypnotherapist is and how they go about it. Don't bother with recorded inductions.

I have thought the same thing you have. Not sure how it will work out for you, but for me it didn't. Simply because i demanded of myself to be brought under hypnosis/trance.
I still think it's the easiest and fastest way (but i can't say for sure.), but i HAVE learned that with awareness AND willingness, you can achieve the same thing.
The thing you also need to be aware of is, WANTING is not the same as WILLING.

edit: Another thing to add is what my therapist told me. Hypnosis is not a magical "cure". Some things can be solved easily, but other things need to be gently stimulated.
If there is too much going on, hypnosis won't work. The layers on top need to be addressed first, before you can start with the "real" issue.
