I remember reading once about how we may see our death as we die,but that something in our brains shuts down if its a traumatic death and we don't feel the pain.

Does anyone know if this is true? And who believed this?

I have read that people when they die, their souls leave their body, before the body experiences any pain. That's why in a lot of psychic readings and a spirit comes through to talk to a grieving family, the spirit often says that they didn't suffer when they had the accident or murder. They were immediately ejected out of the body where they saw the events leading up to their death.

Yes, I have read 100 NDEs and this seems to be the consensus - just before a crash, for example - the soul/spirit leaves.
