What do you think of fear?

I came across this line of thought the other day.

A healthy fear keeps us moving when we, otherwise might become inattentive. Fear gives us added strength to avoid accidents. Fear is an advocate which gives us added power, motivation and makes us overcome our propensity to idleness.

Fear keeps us learning, otherwise we would have to face the Teacher, Guide, or Learned Master with our ignorance; or at the least we would appear unequal to our peers.

If we remembered life on The Other Side, we would not be able to tolerate the hardships here, therefore many have implanted a fear of death within them. I would say this would hold true for the younger souls.

In God's reality, there is only love.

In (y)our reality, we are capable of only 1 emotion, that is Love or Fear.
And fear is what we have made. Fear means absence of love and only there wars, guilt, loss, sadness, death, injustice and other things (which are all same btw.) are evident (seen by the human eye's).

While fear means as well darkness, so is darkness only the distance in thoughts which we think without love.

But fear is only illusion, because only light can make everlasting things.

Fear in man's perspective, as most of us define it, may or may not be helpful. Surely it will help you to avoid dangerous situations and deadly things.
But this fear stems from the belief in animalistic predecessors (evolution theory).

If you would remember that we are actually God's creations, and as such we are invulnerable, and hold on it as few people do, you would never come into any dangerous situation, part if you explicitly asking for it.
Your experience, then, in this world, whatever happens, would lead you always AWAY from the 'dangerous' situations !

A belief in Invulnerability would withdraw its opposite, because you can hold either one or the other.

The lie of the vulnerability entered somehow our minds, and we believed it, now we suffer from the effects, because we still believe (edit:see) in them.

The invulnerable never attack, because they know it is a Trap, which would make both vulnerable.
The invulnerable never attack, because there is no need to attack, why should they ?

linen53 - I don't like fear, but it's plays a big role in a human's life. Everything from fear of public speaking to fear of death, and everything in between. I have tried for years to get a handle on fears, especially the 'future" fears and try to live more in the now. However, as clever as the thought is or theme of a book, it's often difficult to put into practice. It takes a lot of mindful awareness of emotions and the engine that drives those emotions.

Fear drives anxiety and it often feels to me like the world is breathing anxiety. Just watching the news during dinner, interferes with one enjoying the experience of nourishing ones body. And then there is sleep, something that is hard to achieve with much tranquility given violence around the world.

Fear kept in perspective though serves as motivation to change what one doesn't like about his or her life. Returning to the idea that one should live in the present moment. That's not realistic. Fear of not having the resources to live without too much suffering, takes action on ones part. Knowing when to take off running or call 911 is imperative for survival.

So even though I don't like fear, it has been a driving force throughout my life despite it's side effects - worry and anxiety. Every generation has its own set of fears, from the very young child all the way to the eldest nearing their deathbed. No one is exempt from this thing we call fear.

It depends what type of fear you speak off. The kind of fear you have when you are afraid for your life is good, because then you'll be extra cautious. Better safe than sorry right? However, the kind of fear of something inevitable that is to happen or a hopeless situation is like going through a stage of hell. No one should be experiencing this kind of fear.

But when everyone is treating you horribly, all the time, them blameing you for responses, it is very difficult to stop.

What do you mean?

Linen, have you read the book 'The Gift of Fear' ?
Gaven Debecker...I think.

Sorry for neglecting all of you. Day before Thanksgiving and lots to do.
I thought a lot of the subject of fear since I wrote the op. I think fear is healthy and I don't think we can avoid it entirely.
Fear of drowning when I'm much further from shore than I thought.
Fear of having a car accident keeps me alert
Fear of falling down helps me pay attention
Fear of being alone prompts me to be nice to my friends and show appreciation to them:D
I think we all have similar fears (the survival kind), but we also have different fears (the abstract ones).
I don't think I can define your fears. Those are yours and mine are mine.
I did think it was interesting in the op, the part about having a fear of death implanted was interesting. It helps me understand why so many are afraid of death and avoid it at all costs.

Dan isn't it true we are living in a dualistic reality? So fear and love reign equally. You speak of darkness. Without darkness you can't appreciate the light. Yes, we all have our own fears.

No Miss Hepburn I haven't read that book it sounds interesting. I have several of the books you have suggested in other threads:biggrin: I may have to look that one up.

Then they not only won't help me, but will get in my way and start yelling at me if I try. So I can try really hard to overcome it but it just hurts the whole way through and any more what is the point?

So I would almost rather deal with fear of that stuff than that stuff itself but then I'm told I'm bad for doing that as well...

People can be VERY mean.
