There are other herbs that are used for saging. What experiences have you had saging with other herbs? Please feel free to discuss. |
Not to familiar with the term saging.
I assume it is smudging with sage. I have used all manner of plants and saps for smudging. here is an incomplete list: Cedar Mugwort Copal (sap resin) Mushroom(called Thunder Smudge) Bear root Juniper Inner Red Willow bark River sage Prairie sage or silver sage. White sage or California sage(least preferred) Red Wood Edit: Sweat-grass Madrona bark bitter root Juniper (sap, resin, pitch) Cedar (pitch, sap, resin) Fir tree (sap, resin, pitch) and boughs or needles. I also see you ask about experiences. I have many to the mundane to the unexplained. |

Can you share some of your experiences? |

I am not so comfortable sharing about experiences all that much. Especially online, nothing personal. Most experiences concerning smudging is like taking a bath or cleaning house. Even washing the dishes. Smudging proceeds all ceremony and ritual and gatherings so many experience stories would be mixing the two. I feel alright sharing this one unbelievable one in general. I saw a man light a smudge and we were helping someone and getting ready to take him into a sweat lodge. The smoke rose up in a column and moved directly over the man that was being helped. It formed a cloud and then sank right on him. As the smoke sank around him, you could see his body relax all at once. I don't even think he knew that smoke sank on him. |

I suggest to only smudge with things you know work well as I have found that many smudge sticks just do not work well for clearing energy. eg I brought a desert sage smudge stick and used and it really worked poorly on the energy clearing so I had to go back to using white sage.
