Just because music can be 'fun' without a substantial message doesn't excuse inanity. Nathaniel's "Live Louder" is a perfect example. "Live Louder", although it is a meaningless song, really just for dancing, still has musical substance, movement, transition, soul.


"Blah Blah Blah", on the other hand, is utterly inane. If you compare these two songs, it's completely obvious that "Live Louder" has substance whereas "Blah Blah Blah" is infantile gimmickry.



"Live Louder", in other words, is worth listening to. It caught my ear and I stopped to listen to it when it played in the gym today.


So you see, just because a song isn't serious doesn't make it inane. Blah Blah Blah is inane because it's a cheap gimmick. The example of this post's comparison clearly illustrates this.

This is a weak analogy, it’s no comparison at all. The fans of Blah Blah Blah are not choosing to listen to it in the same way that they would choose to purchase their favourite burger...

It was your premise that popularity is a measure of quality, substance, what's good, but the Maccas analogy shows that is flawed. Maccas is objectively 'junk food', but it's very popular. Point being, just because a thing is popular doesn't make it good, and Blah Blah Blah is objectively inane regardless of 'taste'.

It’s my opinion that popularity is an indicator of whether the song is inane or not; it must be popular because it’s appealing in some way.
Music is expression, not junk food, your analogy is invalid, you prove no point. Your insistence does not change the fact that people like this song because they enjoy its expression.
When it comes to the arts, it is not for you or any other individual to dictate what is good & what is bad. I find it hard to believe that there is any form of art that is truly inane, because art is expression!

Blah Blah Blah has meaning for those that enjoy it.
