Surreal experience
 

I had one of the most surreal experiences last night. Looking for any thoughts or interpretations on this or why it happens..? Thanks!

I went to sleep at 9pm and woke up not knowing what time it was (it turned out to only be 10pm) my dog was walking around on the bed but it took me several minutes to realize this. When i first saw him I thought he was a baby lion. I immediately picked up my 2 yo who was asleep next to me on the bed and started to leave. I was petrified. As soon as I got up I realized my husband and 4 year old were not there (he usually crawls into bed with us in the morning and I thought it was much later than it actually was) so I immediately thought that something had transformed my 4 year old into this creature on my bed. Finally I started to come out of it and realize I was delusional.

Similar things have happened to me before where I will be awake but not really conscious. My husband thinks its so strange because it never happens to him. One time I carried on a conversation with him for over 10 minutes about our dogs doing some geotechnical work for us before I finally realized I was not thinking straight.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!

You were lucid dreaming. You were still dreaming but became conscious in the dream. It feels very real.
