Donating my Body to Science.
As I really hate funerals and the way funeral parlours tend to exploit those left(guilt, pride, ego etc) I decided some time ago to donate my body to Melbourne Uni Antomy Dept.
They will keep my body for student teaching etc for three years, after which they have it cremated. This is contingent on my dying within 60 kms and not being squished, or my cadaver otherwise undesirable. I am wondering if this action is held in ill repute by any religious group or cult. If squished, or whatever, I will opt for a carboard box cremation, in keeping with my environmental position...........what do others think? |
Good on you Saspian, I have donated my body also, to the James Cook university, Townsville, I have no worries about the body after death, its just food for maggots, or in our case, for science lol.:icon_eek:

my mothers neighbor donated her body to Newcastle Uni and when her family found out they were extremely angry and refused to comply with their mothers wishes....

Both I and my wife have lodged donation papers here and in the UK. I hope that won't be a problem some day for relatives and friends but it's what we want to do with our bodies. As a long-time Spiritualist I hope someone will remember that we don't see our bodies as having any significance - they're just our 'overcoats' and when they're worn out, we'll have no more feeling for 'em. They'll be used for any useful medical purpose we hope. |
I am a listed to be a organ donor, when the time comes aswell! Hubs was not to pleased about the idea, but i told him it is my body and i shall do with it what i wish.
