In my opinion, the 'content' of one's affirmation makes no difference in its materialization. It may seem that strong and / or profound emotions would make a difference, but what matters is only if your state of consciousness / awareness allows you access to your subconscious.

Also, quite often well-intended people unconsciously sabotage themselves by attaching other personal feelings to their (subjective) well-meant affirmations. They might feel sorrow for the victims, hate toward the perpetrators, doubt, hopelessness, etc.. They attract in their reality sorrow, hate, failure.

It doesn't matter if many of few people wish the same thing, because each one of us creates only their own reality, and can't create others' reality.

That's a great song, and surprisingly insightful from a man with such tight pants ... :) It fit well in "The Big Chill" too.

Serenity69,

Are Selfless Affirmations More Powerful?

No. Why? Because the power of affirmations does not come from us, the power comes through us.

From the 1st reference below:

Let us take a very simple illustration. Man has power to bring his mind into subjection to the principle of mathematics but he does not have the will to make the principle act. The principle acts of itself and is a single center of control within its sphere. Man may bring his will up to the point of the activity of the principle but from then on the principle is the motivating force and through this subjection of his will—to be more accurate—he finds the secret of his mathematical power. The principle of the human will is that it is to be brought into subjectivity to some higher authority and thus man becomes the embodiment of it and is possessed of the power of this higher authority. Man’s weakness is brought about through making himself subject to that which in reality has no power and this should be proof to him of the immense power which is possible to him. He must now learn to apply this principle of his own will and recognize power as existing only in the One Principle.

How does this apply to your question? The awesome symbolism of the Enlightened Hands you've chosen as your Avatar picture illustrates the point. The power of those hands to do wonderful things does not come from your hands, but through the power in you that enables you to express with them as you so choose.

We may erroneously choose to tell ourselves that it is the power of our own wills (hands) that make affirmations work (this is the weakness referred to above).

But just as with mathematics, it is actually the "higher authority" residing in us is that provides the power through which affirmations work.

As indicated in the 2nd reference: "Since man is of the Divine Substance, the quality of KNOWING is inherently active within him. But until man knows consciously that this inherent wisdom is at his command, he cannot use it consciously. Treatment is not for the purpose of making things happen; it is to provide, within ourselves, an avenue through which they may happen. Treatment opens up the avenues of thought, expands the consciousness, and lets Reality through; it clarifies the mentality, removes the obstructions of thought and lets in the Light."

The actual power to manifest anything resides in our understanding and correct use of the same One Principle. How?

Again, (Each)"...must now learn to correctly apply this principle of his own will and recognize power as existing only in the One Principle."

...whether invoking the One Principle to add 2+2, or "making a wish to have a detached house of one's own a living reality".

Hope this, and the references, below helps...

I would think the intention of the affirmation means something. I'm a newbie, so take this with a grain of salt.
If the affirmation that seems selfless is done with the intention of its manifestation being stronger, is it selfless or is done as a test?

I'm a newbie!

If YOU believe that the affirmation must be selfless and you do not make a selfless affirmation, you are getting in your own way and may not be open to receiving what you're asking for. I don't believe an affirmation has to be selfless so if I embody an affirmation that is not selfless, it doesn't mess up my connection / vibration / openness to receive.

Make sense?

Em.

For reasons listed above I don't think they are more or less powerful. YOU are powerful period.

But one of my 2 minute exercises is to uplift others ONLY for at least 2 minutes.

I feel that affirmations have equal positive power, whether it's selfless or not. We are all divine, possessing an infinite amount of love and beauty. Affirmations has no limits.
