Hi Greg! I have battled depression and anxiety myself and I will tell you the best remedy of what works for me is by spending time in nature. Nature has healing properties. Try different parks in your area preferably where there are lots of trees and see which park you are comfortable with and then frequent it as much as you can. Sit near or under a tree and read a book or magazine while you're at it. Or if you feel like it, take a stroll through nature for some exercise. As long as you're in a nature setting, then it will work. Because being in nature is sacred, try to avoid using any electronic devices unless for emergency. The trees will absorb any negative energies from your aura and can even send you healing if you ask for it. You will feel a difference after you leave the park. You may feel revitalized, have more energy, more clarity, feel more positive, and may even sleep better. Try it.

Dancing is excellent.
As is going for a walk in the countryside or park, anywhere near trees & flowers, especially if the sun is shining. Will lift the spirits!

Exercise is best thing to reduce depression. Exercise makes our mind fresh. There are so many exercises but i think yoga and walk both are best exercises to reduce depression.

I swim, walk, and do yoga...and if I don't stay active four to five days a week my depression returns and I'm more anxious.

Hey Greg. I have been coping with separation from my kids. This has bought on heavy depression at times. I know you mention about not wanting to tackle cardio work but honestly, if you can build up slowly either treadmill, cycling, running or swimming you will find that the endophines released with hard cardio work will start to lift you out of it.

Hey Greg,
I've been suffering with depression myself. I love swimming, walking and running, riding my bike and rollerblading. I feel good when I exercise, when it's gloomy outside however I cry so much. Do what's best for you!!

Walking and yoga are perfect! The important thing is to keep doing them

Good luck :)

I do not know if it fits for heavily depressed people, but one to consider:

if you can not do cardio, try weight lifting. It is very different kind of effort required compared to cardio. The downside is it requires a lot of concentration in the beginning to learn the techniques.. if you chose that path, remember flawless control over the weight is more important then how much you lift.

A regular exercise plan is necessary to control the depression.
Yoga is more effective exercise to beat the depression, it is widely recommended to fight against the stress, depression, and anxiety.
