How Do We Use the "Event Reminder" Function?

I believe things in the calender show up if you've asked to be reminded of them. Just an (un)educated guess ...........

So how do you ask?:confused:

Go onto calender, add an event, fill in the details and it says after you've added the event about requesting a reminder.
