'The Ego Cannot Meditate'

Good video on yoga meditation

'The Ego Cannot Meditate' - that made me think, I'll remember that when I'm struggling to get into a meditative state.

That's why we need to convince the ego to work with us & not against us. The ego can give us strength to clear our mind, for the purpose to enter a meditative state of being.

When we meditate we tend to forget about the ego, leaving him out of our ascension process, by breathing in & out of the nose off the bat. This is not just about us in the now, it's also about our fallen comrade, our lower consciousness. So we need to learn to breath in from the nose and out through the mouth. The more we exhale out the mouth we our lowering our vibration closer to his, thus we then slowly bring up some of his energy safely into our being, when the breath automatically switches into breathing in & out of the nose.

We live in a world of duality, but exhaling & inhaling through the nose would only get us so far up until we are slinged shot back down due to magnetic pull of the fallen conscious, as he is saying "what about me?"

Now if we can convince the ego to go the way of the light, as he yearns to be, he will stop the chitter & chatter that prevents us from silencing the mind. The ego is the key of transforming the mind, and should never be forgotten.

The ego knows already that he is a nobody, that's why he wants to be a somebody. Just need to convince that self satisfaction, and recognition comes from the light within, not the material world.

I like the posted video.
But what do you exactly mean by Ego and how it is coming in your way to meditate. Please share your thoughts.

The ego is your lower consciousness that is in the void by committing sins. He gives us negative thoughts hoping we act on it, so he can rise up and take over our current consciousness, meaning he tries to drag us down, so he can control us.

I don't agree with some of what she says in the vid, about how we need to be in a cheerful state to achieve a state of meditation. From my experience meditation is way to self express on what we feel in our hearts, our desires, our goals, our sorrows, etc without expressing our desires, how can we raise our lower energies for healing, how can our guides raise our spirit without expression of our heart. I had received many visions, messages, in meditation through my desires of my heart being heard.

As for the ego, we need the ego, as the ego needs us, until it's time that are soul has healed. The ego is that of duality, when we purify ourselves we keep the missing pieces that we need, and shoot away the garbage that we don't need.

meditation is of many things, and we can't rise if we don't fall. A slow fall down, is better than get sling shot down into the dark because we forgot about the magnetic pull that the ego has on us.

To me, the ego's that voice in my head that sees me as separate, and wants to be special. It's the entity that feels itself to be incomplete, and so constantly looks to the future, for a new experience, relationship, or house (or something) in which it believes it will find salvation.

So when I'm struggling to meditate, it could be because my ego's looking to meditation to give me a transformative experience. Or maybe it's thinking about a petty dispute in which I feel I've been wronged, or an unpaid bill - one way or another, it's dissatisfied and doesn't believe it can find what it wants in the present moment.

Yes I agree that ego is that constantly makes us feel separate and also this is thought content of lower consciousness.

If Ego is that feeling which is saying one is separate, then it will stay till you feel the unity with all. When there is no thought for sometime in meditation, is there any ego..? Is the EGO is also a thought content..?

Do meditation to know more than you know about yourself or inner self.
In Meditation wait for something higher or deeper than what you know now.
Ignore all thoughts arising. Don't try to affirm or reject them, let them go as any thought stays only for few seconds or minutes. Then slowly this lower consciousness fades making us peaceful and then we get control of mind..etc.
This is what i experience and got benefit.
My Master told me to do meditation on heart giving a suggestion that there is divine light without luminosity where heart beats. He advised to ignore all thoughts that arise. Then ego slowly stops bothering and you become joyful.

What do you think about this..?

The ego can still claim to be the part of you that is meditating, and work to confuse you about what the ego is/isn't.

Agree with most of it, except I'm not sure the ego dissolves when you feel the unity with all - well, not for good anyway, I imagined it would still arise but you'd recognise it for what it was and not mistake it for who you are.

Might be a silly question, but how exactly do you meditate on the heart? Do you just give your attention to the area of your physical heart?

By thinking it is the Ego that cannot meditate, you yourself is the one creating separation within. It is you who cannot meditate and Yoga can invite you inside that moment to understand why. It is not about taking a part of you and exclude it, it is about becoming whole with your Self. Simply drop the idea that there is an Ego to separate you and you now are on a path towards becoming whole within.

Some if not many within unity will discover that there is no higher or lower realities, there only is reality and how you think of it. And some might not.

That would be one way, yes. I use my heart chakra for meditating on the heart, but the physical heart would also work.

Sometimes I can feel it, and that makes it easier to focus on that area. Another way I've found useful is to have something touching the area I want to meditate on (such as my finger, my hand, or a crystal), and the physical sensation makes focusing on that area easier.
