Ramakrishna said...I want to taste sugar, not be sugar..

''I want to taste sugar not be sugar.''

I really relate to this.

I want to feel God, not "be" God.

Any comments?

I think the sugar is the concept or sweetness that we taste, but beyond the taste is more than the sweetness, this cannot be conceptualized, but can be tasted. So we have to go beyond the taste of sweet Awareness and be pure Awareness, this Awareness cannot be named, that's how i see it.

Hello Miss H, this statement is related to the Bhakti Yoga and Gyan Yoga. In Gyan Yoga the jeeva becomes God but a devotee don’t want to be one with God. he want to love God.
Sugar cannot taste itself. God is satchidanand, a devotee want to love that anand. Don’t to be satchidanand. These are two ways of Sadhana.

if you are sugar, how can you just be satisfied with the taste?

Miss Hepburn 08-12-2011 04:02 PM

I just want to taste the sugar.
I don't need to become the sugar.
However, if I have created the illusion that there is the sugar and the taster - well, then, so be it.
Let me enjoy that separation to the fullest...as I created it to be.
Taster and the tasted.
Lover and Beloved.

I think it is better to be god.

Haha!

I know, I hear ya..I think I have more of a devotee's heart or approach, I see.
Bhakti Yoga would interest me far more than other Yoga practices.
We all seem to approach the Source in our own way.
It's all is good.

I have a friend that is obsessed with "The Nothingness"
I tell 'im to get away from me all the time. "Go, go away. Pour me a glass of wine. Go away."

Not A Concern With Seeing God As Being Separate

Even those who’ve made substantial progress here have quite a ways to go before getting to the level of what one would call God, the highest level of BEing in the Universe.

We are in charge of our journey & will only advance as far as we desire, so this isn’t an issue. If we see God as separate, this is what we will experience. If we want to feel that we are part of an integrated Universe where what we call God is manifesting in everything, this is what we will have. It’s completely our choice.
