Yes it's very important to educate oneself in regards to the roots of such deep soul music, feel the passion and have some respect and appreciation for what has been given. :hug3:
I know for me, being addicted to today's Lounge music, which has it's roots partly in trip-hop and jazz, that would be an example of a 'like' I listen to mainly because I just really like it. We all do it although I tend not to respond to music I don't have some kind of deep spiritual resonance with, anyway. With electronica for example, I have a very spiritual experience with space and ambient, going back a long way. Same with classical. I got called a snob last year in regards to my musical taste, which surprised me, but I've decided I'm happy to accept the label, even if that kind of comment is just coming from ignorance.
