A Flower Unfolding

I am a flower unfolding
to its decadent ending
A bird in flight
Who has lost his way home
A rider on the storm
forever calling
The crisp love of
a child's innocent
hug
I am the man who was
caught shouting
in the middle of the street
at the moon one night
The lover who died
the death of a thousand cuts
The clown running
with his trousers falling
the crying boy
at his mother's distress
wondering why the heart
goes through so many
prosaic maulings
Here i am unfolding
this morning on this quiet
chair
inside this winter morning
dormant and ready
and the spring is rising
already and calling
over the meaningful
winter bird song

Hi Joe,
I know we are not to copy and paste somebody else’s poems, but your sensitive poem immediately reminded me of Michael Leunig, so I posted one of his cartoons, to introduce him to you, because I felt that you might enjoy looking at his works.

Thank you for sharing that, i have to say i think its the most beautiful thing that's anyone's ever shared with me on Sf and Sf poetry...so a big thank you for that resonation. I really look forward to looking over his work and will let you know what i think if that is ok. All the best from the Shamrock Shore, (Ireland of course :D )

Glad that Michael’s drawing helped to convey my sentiment towards your poem.
