Initially, you have to ask yourself why you want to be a hypnotherapist...what skills and qualities are you starting out with? Remember hypnotherapy is one step removed from counselling. With hypno you are working with client's subconscious while they are deeply relaxed and you are sometimes trying to draw out their deepest emotions. You have to be both a good communicator and a good therapist perhaps getting to the root of peoples inner psychological difficulties that have been troubling them for many years.
A good course should help cultivate the therapist in you and not train you to read from scripts. There are a lot of script readers out there and even beginner hypnotherapists should not read from scripts.

The person has to feel safe, so you should be friendly, calm and approachable.
