White Witches ?
Are they good or bad ?
What is their purpose ? What do they do ? thanks  |
They never existed and still don't !
In medieval times, the Cunning Folk gained an undeserved reputation as "white witches" and were protected by the rural communities that they served because they originated as tribal shaman - they were the original target of the church but proved to be untouchable [ partly because certain Cunning Folk hid "in plain sight" as priests using the bible as a source of incantations ]. They also gained a reputation as the best witch finders during the Witch Hunting times. I suspect that this came from the Cunning Folk themselves and they set up people that they wanted rid of. There came to be a division in common "knowledge" - White Witches = rural Cunning Folk = good, and "Black Witches = urban witches = bad. Whereas, truth be known, the Cunning Folk were the real deal and their path was a Crooked Path, not black or white but both or neither. The Cunning Folk never called themselves White Witches and we still don't. Black or White - it's just folklore. :D Many "hide in plain sight" yet again as Hedge Witches but I prefer the ancient name. At the core of the path is "Striding The Hedge" - a shamanic practice used to commune with the ancestors for guidance. |
Do you mean practitioners of witchcraft who are Caucasian?
|
no, white witches are anyone who practice white magic.
|
And what do you believe is involved in the practice of white magic?
|
The question should be what was/is involved in the practice of "magic" ? Forget white and black, they are irrelevent.

The original poster is asking specifically about white witches and the practice of white magic. You can go off about how magic isn't even color-coded, but I'd rather ask "What's that even supposed to mean? (Full disclosure: you and I are in agreement that color-coding magic is utterly ridiculous. The original poster shouldn't forget it, but own up to these naive presumptions.) |
You get white magic and you get black magic. Simple really.

Not really simple. "Magic" is a natural phenomena originating out of Earth energies. Any "flavour" is imparted by the adept's intent. "White" magic is generally pro-life, "black" is anti-life. One project that I was involved in at one time was protection of Red squirrels [building nesting boxes, feeding tables, invoking Gaia's protection]. This involved doing "harm" to Grey squirrels. Yin/Yang. Every action has a reaction, equal and opposite. Nothing is pure white or pure black, all "magic" has aspects of both. |

Says who? Where did you first learn about this? What defines either one of them, other than colors? |
